    One of the largest, richest, and most influential tribes in Arabia during the pre-Islamic period of Ignorance. Muhammad belonged to this tribe, which stood firmly against his Call, until its leaders either fell in battlefields, or converted to Islam. But, after opposing Islam for 20 years, when the Prophet died, and the great majority of the Arabs (almost 90%) apostatized, partially or wholly, the Quraysh stood firm for Islam, none apostatized. In fact, Abu Sufyan, the leader in every battle against the Prophet, met someone in Yemen who told him after the death of the Prophet, “I have apostatized.” Abu Sufyan promptly beheaded him.
