I`jaz al-Qur’an (Miracles of the Qur'an) was written by an illustrious scholar Qadi Abu Bakr b. Muhammad b. al-Tayyib b. Muhammad, b. Ja`far b. al-Qasim al-Baqilani (338-403 H). Baqilani was an Ash`arite theologian, Malikite jurist, a brilliant polemicist and a prolific writer who flourished in Busra.
The book is an excellent exposition of the miracles of the Qur'an. According to Ibn Taymiyyah, Baqilani was the best of Ash`arite Mutakallimun who demonstrated the miracle of the Qur’an in its superb meaning for universal guidance; excellent and unparalleled power of expression. Influence of Baqilani’s book was profound and great as it has been continuously cited for centuries after him. No work on the subject can be completed even today without taking its help.
