Abu أبو

Father; widely used as a nickname (or sobriquet) in conjunction with the name of a person’s first son for respectful address, e.g.,Abu`Abdullah, meaning: `Abdullah’s father, where `Abdullah happens to be the person’s first male son, not necessarily the first issue (who could be a female). Depending on certain grammatical rules,Abu can become Aba or Abi . When used independently it is Abun meaning, ‘a father.’ See Kunyah for further details.
