Abdullah B Jubyr (d. 2 H) عبدالله بن جبير
He was one of the seventy who pledged hands at `Aqabah while the Prophet (saws) was still in Makkah. At Uhud , he was given the command of the 70 archers that the Prophet had placed on the Jabal Rummah with the instruction that they were not to come down even if they saw vultures over the dead below. But, once the troops in his command saw the pagans retreating in haste, they came down looking for booty. Ibn Jubayr tried to prevent them, but they would not listen. Only ten were left with him. They put up a brave resistance to Khalid’s attack but were overcome. All of them met with their martyrdom. In anger, the pagans severed his nose and ears.
