Tahajjud Prayer: The Best Time to Talk To Allah Almighty
Tahajjud is a special prayer. It is recommended but not compulsory. This prayer is prayed after the Isha prayer and before the fajar prayer. Allah Almighty ordered His messenger to perform Tahajjud prayer. In Surah AL-Israa it is said that:-
“As for the night, keep vigil in a part of it: an additional (prayer) for you. It may be that your Lord will raise you to a Station of Praise.”
This particular order, even though it was particularly directed for the Prophet, also describes all Muslims, considering that the Prophet is really a perfect example and guide for us in most matters. In addition, performing Tahajjud Hopes regularly qualifies one as one of the righteous in addition to makes one earn Allah's bounty and mercy. Allah Almighty mentions those in Quran E Pak who perform the late night prayer. In Surah AL-Furqan it is said that:-
“And those who spend the night prostrate to their Lord, and standing.”
Ther are many Ahadith which put emphasis on performing Tahajjud prayer. It is narrated by Hazrat Abdullah IBN Salam that:-
“When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Madinah, the people gathered around him and I was one of them. I looked at his face and understood that it was not the face of a liar. The first words I heard him say were: ‘O people, spread the salutations, feed the people, keep the ties of kinship, and pray during the night while the others sleep, and you will enter Paradise in peace.”
Etiquette of Performing Tahajjud
• When someone goes for sleep he should make the intention to offer Tahajjud prayer.
• Begin your prayer with two Rakahs and after these two Rakahs one can pray whet he/she wants.
“The Messenger of Allah ordered us to pray during the night, a little or a lot, and to make the last of the Prayer the Witr Prayer.”
• It is recommended that one should wakes up his family too. It is narrated by Hazrat Abu Hurrairah (RA) that Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) said that:
“May Allah bless the man who gets up during the night to pray and wakes up his wife and who, if she refuses to get up, sprinkles water on her face. And may Allah bless the woman who gets up during the night to pray and wakes up her husband and who, if he refuses, sprinkles water on his face.”
• Tahajjud prayer can be performed in early part of night, middle part of night and also in later part of night. But the later part of night is preferred.
Try your best to perform Tahajjud prayer because it’s the best time to ask from Allah Almighty. May Allah give us courage to offer Tahajjud prayer (Amen)!
